In the tranquil surroundings on the outskirts of the beautiful Kent village of Birling, Laundry Cottage was originally built in 1840, on the site of properties previously occupied by shepherds. The name derives from its function to provide the laundry services for Birling House.
There are three guest double bedrooms with top quality beds as used by the hotel industry to ensure both comfort and support for a relaxing night’s sleep.
There is a wide menu for breakfast with the farm butcher’s and greengrocer’s being located a short walk along Pilgrims Way just to the rear of the house. Eggs will be supplied from our own hens (depending on their own production schedule). During the summer months, weather permitting, breakfast can be served on the patio.
Laundry Cottage is set in about an acre of ground, which guests are invited to make full use of. The Summer House offers the opportunity to relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings of the garden.
Inside, the sitting room is for the use of guests to relax and have tea and cake (or the house speciality ‘podgy pilgrims’) after arrival. There are games , books detailing local attractions, maps as well as more information on local amenities including restaurants and pubs. There is also a baby grand piano, which guests are welcome to play, and a real fire for the winter
